You’ve trusted “clean beauty” to be safe, gentle, and non-toxic—but what if those very promises are hiding harmful secrets? In this eye-opening video, PhD toxicologist Dr. Yvonne Burkart unpacks how unregulated marketing terms like “clean,” “natural,” and “non-toxic” have become powerful tools for greenwashing.

Learn the real meaning behind “clean” claims, the dangers of undisclosed fragrance ingredients, the problem with parabens, PFAS in your makeup, and why U.S. cosmetic safety laws lag far behind the EU. Discover how even well-intentioned swaps like “paraben-free” can still mislead you with harmful substitutes.

This video dives deep into the science, showing how certain chemicals, many hiding under vague labels, are linked to hormone disruption, allergic reactions, fertility issues, and even breast cancer gene expression.

Disappointed that this video seems to propogate myths about parabens based on poorly conducted studies… It’s doing the thing it claims to debunk

I really don’t understand this video. You’re claiming to be debunking clean beauty, yet you’re parroting many of its claims in this video… Now you’re talking about fragrance as if it’s not regulated (hello, IFRA)

Sad that you’re a professional parroting myths instead of facts. You probably know most of these are fear mongering and not true yet here you are. I expected something totally different by clicking on this video. Clean beauty is a scam *because* of BS claims about the things in this video. Parabens are the safest preservatives ever studied and have 100 years of proven safety – one very poorly conducted 2004 study doesn’t change 100+ years of evidence. You should check out what other toxicologists say because it’s not this!

  5. Why is Tower28 on the thumbnail? It’s one of the brands I use for my contact dermatitis. I just use their makeup which is concealer, sun tint, and powder not their skincare because they’re overpriced.
